We’ll Take Manhattan explores the explosive love affair between sixties supermodel Jean Shrimpton and photographer David Bailey. Focusing on a wild and unpredictable 1962 Vogue photo shoot in New York, the drama brings to life the story of two young people falling in love, misbehaving and inadvertently defining the style of the Sixties along the way.

En 1962, le photographe en herbe, David Bailey et sa petite amie, le top model Jean Shrimpton, partent à la conquête des Etats Unis. Arrivés à New York, David obtient rapidement un contrat de travail avec le magazine Vogue. Pour son premier shooting, le photographe sollicite l’aide de sa bien-aimée. Cependant, l’éditrice Lady Rendlesham Clare, présente sur les lieux, est indignée par le comportement de la demoiselle et les photos choquantes du jeune homme. Mais les deux jeunes gens campent sur leur position, bien décidés à imposer leur propre style dans le monde de la mode.

A principios de los años 60 seguimos en paralelo la evolución de una joven aspirante a modelo, Shrimpton (Gillan) y un ayudante de fotógrafo con ganas de volar solo, Bailey (Aneurin Barnard), hasta que ambos se encuentran primero por azar en un pequeño estudio fotográfico, y después en la sede de la prestigiosa Vogue británica. Se conocen y se lían, lo cual es un pequeño escándalo familiar en los rurales y conservadores Shrimpton, ya que Bailey es un hombre casado. En un momento dado, al fotógrafo se le ofrece la posibilidad de realizar un reportaje de moda para la revista que represente las nuevas tendencias juveniles en Nueva York. Y él pide que la modelo sea Shrimpton a pesar de la oposición de la conservadora Lady Clare (Helen McCrory), editora que les acompañará a la gran manzana. Las cosas no serán fáciles pero supondrá el lanzamiento de la carrera de ambos.
