Discuss Superman II

I know for most people the first movie is usually considered the best but of the four Reeves movies this was always by far the one I liked the most, it was fast paced and had plenty of action.

I agree. Maybe for me, the 1st one is the best but this is my favorite.

Agreed. For the nightmare they went through making this one, it's still awesome.

I love both I like the first slightly more. Although I do feel this one had the best villain. Hackman was a solid Lex Luthor but Terrence Stamp's Zod I like even more.

Wait, there are others? wink

Superman II (1981) - 8 outta 10 stars

I agree. The first movie was groundbreaking and quite entertaining, but was slightly ruined by the "turn back time" solution at the end.

Superman II was action packed and thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end.

I happen to think Superman III was underrated. The biggest blotch on that movie was the slapstick nonsense during the opening credits. It set the wrong tone. But I found the overall story engaging and appreciated that Superman had to use his brains to finally find a solution to the problem. Richard Pryor was a fun addition.

Superman IV had no redeeming qualities. Easily the worst of the Christopher Reeve films. No. Change that. The worst of all the Superman films.

It's a masterpiece!

It is true that. Having said the other issue is the cheap, clearly not New York Metropolis in that scene. Didn't they shoot that in Vancouver or something before the even cheaper move to Milton Keynes is Superman IV?

Not sure about the tone though, given Gus's later skiing down the side of that building. But still a fun worthy addition to the Reeve collection.

When Gus skiied down the building, it was funny and was properly set up. The relentless and pointless slapstick at the beginning was merely silly.
