Diskutera ایندیانا جونز: مهاجمان صندوق گمشده

The TV Show; "The Big Bang Theory" makes a point that Indiana Jones is fundamentally irrelevant to the story. Quote; "[He] plays no role in the outcome of the story". This is because they misunderstand what the story is about

The story is a race. Indy is contracted by the US Government to get the Ark before the Nazi. And he did. The end.

Sure, the Nazi would find it eventually and all that... but that is the characteristics of a race for crying out laud. And if it was not a race, he was still contracted to get it before the Nazi... and he did, and possibly saved the world in the process. That TV show is dead wrong.

The TV Show also argues that he was supposed to get it to a museum. In which he also failed. Again, this is incorrect. He was contracted by the US Government, not the Museum. And his task was simply to get it before the Nazi.... sure he wanted to study it etc, but the US Government was of a different opinion, that is it.

I would rather say that without him in the story, the Nazi would first have found it a bit later than when they did, and then they would find out about its deadly force by its destruction on the island and lastly somehow later figure out howto utilize this force to win the war and kill all the good in the world... how is that for "playing no role in the outcome"????

I think it's... short-sighted, or something... to say that Indy "failed" just because his task was supposed to be to bring the Ark to the university/museum, which didn't end up happening. It was far more important that it not be used by the Nazis to take over the world, which he did play a huge role in achieving. (Although there seems to be some evidence that the Ark would not have allowed itself to be used that way, either. Otherwise why destroy the Nazis that opened it on the island? It wasn't just a Good Little Ark that follows orders. It recognized good vs evil on its own.)

I agree. It is incorrect to judge his success on where the Ark ends up. His goal was to get it before the Nazi and bring it to safety. He did. What a hero :)

I disagree though that the ark could not be used to benefit the Nazi.

Truthfully we do not know anything about what is in the box. It is clearly an ancient magical force and we know from the other movies such forces exist in this universe. And not all are Judaic. To me it did not look like a God of good. Even the flying angles display daemon like characteristics.

What we do know though is that this box holds immense power. And we also know Indy cries to keep their eyes shot in order to not to be vaporized.... why did he say this? Again idk, but it worked and if it worked because of this... ergo it means that it kills good guys too, provided they don't close their eyes...

So factually, all we know is that the box has destructive power and kills, unless you do not look upon its content.

In other words, perhaps all the Nazi had to do was to smuggle it to London and open it, and wait a few minutes while having their eyes closed... and if it only kills none-judaic followers ... the Nazi could use it to clean out a lot of Russia, Africa, Middel-east etc.

Of course we see that it burns away the Nazi symbol on its box while in transport, but knowing how vindictive the god of the old testaments was written, perhaps it just didn’t like anything except its own symbols (this seem to be a theme, just ask Moses).

In any case and no matter how it may work, a potential destructive weapon like the ark should be held out of reach of our enemy...

To me it seems anyone who views its content will parish, which is why even goodies like Indy and Marion had to keep their eyes shot.

That's a problem with people who think they're smart - flippant comments that are bereft of the background discourse you all have shown was readily accessible if the writers bothered to think it through.

Of course, that might include me! I've never watched a single episode of that show, so my comment above might also be considered flippant and bereft.

Funny how that works :-) but not so much that it escapes me. So, there's that.

Yeah. It makes no sense whatsoever to take seriously a quote from a comedy who's only redeeming quality didn't reside in it's witty writing, but in the sight of Kaley Cuoco frequently being half-naked over the course of several seasons

Assuming you didn't get in on the cell-phone-hacking thing, and get to see her ALL-naked.

Which wouldn't have been possible on TBBT, given that it aired on CBS

Well sure, but if you're going to limit yourself, you should at least see The Flight Attendant. Since it's on "cable" there should be more undressing there.

We agree! Glory be!

Well they had some good writing, too.

I guess you're just left with the cellphone photos, then.
