The title "Binyag" translates to 'loss of innocence,' and this little-known film from the Philippenes shows, very effectively, the process in which one young person loses his own innocence. A boy living a quiet, picturesque life in the Filipino province, spending his days swimming in the sea, is offered a job as a "film star" when a shady "talent scout" visits his small village. He promises the naive Leo that he can "make him a star." Leo, excited at the idea of escaping his seemingly mundane life, accepts the offer, thus beginning his journey to the city of Manila, where he will learn some hard facts about the world he lives in.

Der attraktive Leo (Ran Domingo) wächst auf dem Land auf, er liebt seine Heimat und den Ozean. Doch als ein Talentscout ihm dort die große Filmkarriere verspricht, zieht es ihn nach Manila. In der Großstadt dann verfliegen alle Träume und Leo muss sehen, wie er überlebt. Ihm bleibt nichts anderes übrig als seinen Körper zu verkaufen. 'Binyag'이란 제목은 순수의 상실을 의미하며, 필리핀의 한 젊은이가 자신의 순수함을 잃는 과정을 자세히 보여준다. 필리핀 작은 마을에 바다에서 수영을 하며 나날을 보내는 주인공 레오는 영화배우를 제의를 받게 되고, 순진한 레오는 제의를 받아 들이며 마닐라 시로 향하게 된다. 레오는 그로인해 몇 가지 힘든 일을 겪게된다.
