it went a bit flat in the second half, with only Nicky's tormented soul holding it together. But this element didn't seem developed with Terry; the only time she seemed in mental strife was when she was hysterical in hospital. Terry failing to reach out to Nicky to explain whilst keeping her former beau on a leash seemed wholly inconsistent. Like she didnt want to impose on Nicky but would happily do so with that poor schmuck.

I mean, if Nicky lived in another part of the US it might have made sense, but he seemed to be staying in the same area. Having at least three musical numbers in the second half that had nothing to do with the plot also took away much of the impetus of the film. I liked Grant's performance but I'm slightly baffled why this is so highly acclaimed.
