Discuss The Invitation

Who's bright idea was it to have Nathalie Emmanuel where a septum ring throughout the entire movie? It's so distracting.

Anyway, if you're reading this you likely don't care about spoilers, so about an hour into this borefest we find out it's vampires. Dracula needs three brings for reasons and Nathalie's going to be bride number three. He tries to win her to his side be revealing he's an evil vampire and killing an innocent woman, and then is shocked she tries to run away.

It's stupid, lame and boring because 1) Nathalie's character is soooo unlikeable. It's like they wrote the role for Tessa Thompson but couldn't get her and instead cast a different annoying light skinned liberal black woman. And 2) she is never once tempted to join the vampires. If they had spent time establishing she had a fear of dying, or maybe her mother/sibling died young from a cancer/illness and then she gets a diagnosis they she has cancer or something, then when the vampires offer her immortality it would give her a real dilemma.

It's just Get Out but with the genders flipped, and worse writing.

Probably hers. She really has the ring in her nose & didn't want to take it out?

Then the director is a moron for letting her keep it in, though I guess it does fit the entitlement of the character she plays.
