Wow, this was boring and flat. Anne Hathaway was the only one who had a pulse (ironically).

Though I disagree, that is quite an odd complaint to have about this particular film. Everyone is bouncing about singing like madmen. It's certainly not a film without energy.

I disagree, for me it was the best musical I've seen so far.

I agree to an extent. I have both read the novel and been to several adaptions of the musical at the theater. I dislike the voice of Hugh Jackman that sound like a Grandpa with Parkinson (stop the vibrator and work on the pitch man!) - he was much better when he was not singing and dancing. I will not at all discuss Russel Crowe... jeez! Anne Hataway can definitely sing and act - she is amazing in this. I always love Helena Bonham Carter and she rocks that crazy-charm with that Borat-guy. They are great, funny and it works. Nevertheless, it is a visual treat and the choreography is well done.
Nothing beats the performance seen in the 1978 adaption of Les Misérable. The acting of Anthony Perkins as Javert and the unfortunately unknown Richard Jordan as Jean Valjean are stunning! No, mesmerizing! I can highly recommend this adaption over this rusty musical performance.
