Discuss Blacklight

I just read the synopsis of his three next movies that are either in post-production or filming:

1) "Travis Block, a shadowy Government agent who specializes in removing operatives who's covers have been exposed....."

2) "An assassin-for-hire finds that he's become a target after he refuses to complete a job....."

3) "A bank executive receives a bomb threat while driving his children to school that his car will explode if they stop and get out."

Not only did he say it but I'm fairly certain he said so on at least two different occasions and the first one was probably in 2017 and the second a year or two later and apparently now he has once again made the same remark this year in 2021. Hell, those plot synopses are starting to sound like the ones you find in Steven Seagal movies in the 21st century and those sound like they came from some kind of a random word generator like this one for example "A US drugs cop in Bucharest is up against a Russian gun and drug trafficker employing cute women and a Gypsy gang leader, who plunders, rapes and kills the young and rich. Lots of fighting and shooting."

Also maybe it's just me but that plot from 3 sounds awfully familiar. I think I saw it in a movie about a bus that had to speed around the city keeping its' speed over fifty and if its' speed dropped it would explode. The name escapes me......but i'm just about certain it was called 'The bus that couldn't slow down'. Maybe this is a sequel....

Well, the first of those generic three movies is now out and I'm obviously talking about 'Blacklight' and it's not good at all. Really mediocre, bland and uninteresting story with the generic US government branch is up to no good schtick. Neeson's previous 'The Marksman' was equally poor and it seems like he is just a few steps away from doing those low budget dime a dozen turkeys Bruce Willis and Steven Seagal have been churning out for years. I should also mention that the fight scenes in this are pathetic. Apparently the FBI recruits their agents from the UFC the way that one agent was handling a group of cops in a round of fisticuffs. The only problem is that those fight scenes are absolutely terrible. I thought Neeson looked bad in those scenes because of his age, but that young buck agent was equally terrible if not even worse. Hell, it's almost Matrix Revolutions level of crappy fight scenes.

I'm not even 10 minutes in and the obvious mistakes are almost too much to take... I mean obvious things that 90% of the population will notice like someone slapping them across the face. Those propane tanks do not spray out gas when you turn that valve on top unless there is the proper hose connected that also presses in the spring valve inside the brass fitting. Anyone who has ever used one of these knows that and should spot this immediately. Also, the way he picks up two of them and they swing so easily, along with the HOLLOW sound they make when they are put down make it 100% obvious that the tanks are empty. These stupid things are at the top of the list of what makes movies bad... just like the empty soda/beer cans/coffee cups that produce a different sound when places on a table or desk which is obvious to any sane human being who can immediately tell if the cup was completely empty or had something in it...

He's great at these type of movies. I can't imagine another actor playing his role in Taken for instance. I do agree most movies like this follow a redundant plot and often (like this one) the plot kinda sucks. It's not the fault of the actor though. The plot in Memory is not bad though.

This has to be one of the worst movies I've seen lately. Not only is it super lazy but it's woke up the wazoo. In the first 10 minutes I could tell 1) Liam Neeson is a terrible father/husband/grandfather, 2) all the women are good or victims, 3) pretty much all them men outside of Liam Neeson are evil or jerks, 4) strong diverse female woman of color with lesbian haircut is fighting the patriarchy and doesn't have a good relationship with her father, 5) Liam's boss was the main villain.

And the action is just awful. A lot of quick cutting to hide the fact Liam fights, runs and reacts about as quickly as you would expect a 70 year old man to. Would not recommend.
