Discuss Alien³

1) Did anyone ever hear or read an explanation for why, on the way back to Earth or Gateway Station or whatever, the Sulaco would happen to pass closely by "Fury" 161 - which was described in the movie as being just about as far from anything "civilized" as you could get? The ass-end of space or whatever it was they said.

2) How would the alien know where they were and pick that time to cause the fire that resulted in the escape pod being launched, not only very close to "Fury" 161 but also at just the right time so it would land in sight of the mining operation rather than elsewhere on the planet?

It may be that the Company picked up data that there was the alien on the Sulaco and then redirected the ship, but it would have been nice to know for sure. And how could they arrange for the alien to cause the electrical fire at the right time, etc? It probably would have been easier for them to just send another crew to LV-426, it seems likely that the alien ship with all the eggs was not within the blast radius of the Aliens explosion.

And overall to the original Alien movies and to Prometheus etc as well, how could the various androids get the idea that the Alien creatures were "superior" when they required other beings to reproduce, and only did so one-to-one?

Really good movie! It's too bad it didn't do so well, special effects-wise, over the course of history.

They also should have mentioned, somewhere along the line of all the movies, what type of FTL propulsion they were using. It had to be some kind of FTL, or else it would have taken DECADES or CENTURIES to get from planet to planet. For that matter, the lifeboat at the end of Alien and the start of Aliens, might have had to be under some kind of FTL too, for it to "pass through the core systems" in ONLY 57 years.
