During some of my downtime I've been ripping some old DVDs to files and I got to this one. I decided to rewatch. The first time I was super annoyed by Rogers hamming it up like she's some sort of James Cagney after too much coffee. Still feel that way. She is downright bad in this. The film is super heavy with dialog that should be funnier than it is. BUT I will say I love the opening all the way up to the hold up in the hotel room. The film again picks up and is a pretty good crime story from the twist near the end to the finale. So, yes, I would recommend it for noir fans and fans of Edward G. Robinson. Just be warned the wise cracking Ginger Rogers is almost unbearable.

I gave this film a 5/10, mainly because I thought Rogers was a serious miscast. It's been a while since I watched it from beginning to end (in one-shot), so there might be other things I didn't like?

everything else is better than Rogers! Everything else is just a gritty crime film that even is shot well at the beginning and end
