A la Suïssa del 1877, l’anarquisme comença a sorgir en una petita rellotgeria industrial. Els treballadors corren d’un costat per l’altre, saltant de fus en fus horari: ni l’ajuntament ni la fàbrica, i ni tan sols correus, es posen d’acord per aclarir quina és l’hora exacta. En aquesta societat, un grup de treballadors formarà un sindicat associat amb la Primera Internacional, cosa que els portarà a una petita i inesperada revolució.

In 1877, in a watch factory in a valley in north-western Switzerland, Josephine produces balance spindles, tiny parts that ensure the agitation movement ("unrueh") of the mechanical watches. She soon grows uneasy with the organisation of work and possession in the village and its factory and joins the anarchist worker movement of the local watchmakers. There she meets Piotr Kropotkin, a moony Russian traveller. The two of them meet at a time when new technologies such as time measurement, photography and the telegraph are transforming the social order and anarchist discourse is addressing emerging nationalism. During a walk in the woods, Josephine and Piotr ask themselves whether time, money and the government are not all but fictions.

Novas tecnologias transformam uma cidade relojoeira na Suíça do século XIX. Josephine, uma jovem operária, produz a roda do calibre que oscila no coração do relógio mecânico. Exposta a novas formas de organizar o dinheiro, o tempo e o trabalho, ela se envolve com o movimento anarquista local.

Dans une horlogerie suisse où commencent à poindre les bouleversements induits par les avancées technologiques du XIXe siècle, Josephine, une jeune ouvrière, y fabrique le balancier, véritable cœur des mécanismes. Alors que les dirigeants y réorganisent le travail, le temps et les salaires pour rester compétitifs, elle se retrouve mêlée à un mouvement local d’horlogers anarchistes où elle rencontre l’aventurier russe Pierre Kropotkine.
