Tom Cruise's best role?

Actually, I'm more inclined to think Born on the Fourth of July is his absolute masterpiece, showing a long character arc through some gut-wrenching experiences.
But, rather than being a slick action hero, ever on the run...he plays totally off-type here in Tropic Thunder and nails the role - humour and all - so convincingly it's not hard to miss it was even him at all.

He was hilarious in this.
I also liked him as "Austin Powers", alongside Kevin Spacey as "Dr. Evil", Gwyneth Paltrow as "Dixie Normous" and Danny De Vito as "Mini Me". All four were doing a parody of the characters in "Austinpussy", a movie that was being shot by Steven Spielberg in the opening scene of the movie "Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002)".

He's still the biggest movie star... born on 4th was his best role... he was good in vanilla sky too...
He was great in tropic thunder... a lot of people had written him off, but he came out of nowhere and blew everyone away....

Yeah I wouldn't say it's his best role as he indeed has quite a few, but certainly one that blew me away! He was barely recognizable, so out-of-character, and F-ing Hilarious!!
