So not true. I was on the Kickline/dance team (Kind of like Dallas Cowboys style - I didn't try out for cheerleading as my sister was already a co captain of the other). My mother forced me to try out. I had no interest. Those girls were major beyotches including my sister. I ended up being friends with my sister's rivals (twins) one was captain of the cheerleaders. They were nice to me because either they wanted to get to my sister or because I was best friends with their little sister. But in school people couldn't touch them. So it upped my status overnight. I did quit Kickline and the head guy thought I was insane. He actually said, "Nobody has ever quit".
Regardless. I enjoyed my life before when nobody noticed me. I could be myself and act immature or whatever. I did have fun to a degree but the cattiness was awful. I hate bullying and a lot of "popular" people seem to think they need to bully people to stay relevant.
Of course not all are like that though but many are. The twins ended up having a really nice side that people may not have ever seen. It's true about the summer people who hang out with you outside of school but never in school. It's because they are actually decent people who put on an act to stay cool. I was thrilled when HS ended.
