Slow burn movie, great soundrack

Academy Award nom for Ben Affleck? He was really good it in. I liked how he portrayed a really great uncle underneath a slightly rough exterior. All the acting was great. Worth the watch for a slow, well done, coming-of-age movie.

I did not understand one thing: j.r. as a child he is dark and with black eyes, when he becomes a boy (Tye Sheridan) he is brown with blue eyes ...

I agree. They cast the wrong child actor in terms of looks. Looked completely different from either parent or relatives. But the kid was pretty good, otherwise.
Aside from that, was actually a decent movie. Affleck's character was very well written and he was excellent.
