Jason Segel is the worst part of this movie... Sorry, I don't buy it... I don't buy it that any of these women would stay in his life for more than a few weeks never mind the years that this movie expects you to believe they'd put up with his BS...
They should have cast someone else as the male lead... You can even see it in the scenes with Chris Pratt that he would have been a much better choice and could probably pull it off with his all-American boyish charm...

I couldn't take more than 30 mins of this movie, and I think it's because of what you said. Whether it's due to Jason Segel himself or just a badly written character, I was really annoyed at him. At first you think he's the dream boyfriend who happily gives up his career to let his partner follow hers, but pretty soon you realize he's just playing the martyr, holding his resentment over her head like he's doing her a favor, getting progressively weirder and more selfish.
I dunno, maybe that was the point of the movie? A serious drama about how the martyr complex ruins relationships? The problem is this flick is billed as a laugh riot like Bridesmaids & the other Apatow comedies, but this just doesn't have the laughs. Unlike Bridesmaids which I loved, none of the characters here seemed very likeable except Chris Pratt & Alison Brie who were just a sideshow. And I utterly despised Chris Parnell's character, the creepy househusband who knits ugly sweaters and shoots deer with a crossbow. Who's idea was it that that would be funny?
