Discuss Tomorrow Never Dies

I really liked Eric Serra's soundtrack for GoldenEye. A lot of people thought it was too different to be a proper Bond soundtrack, but I thought it was a much needed breath of fresh air.

Tomorrow Never Dies is the first of the five Bond movies that David Arnold scored. He had already did great soundtracks like Stargate and Independence Day (winning a Grammy for that one). I was looking forward to hearing him "do" Bond, and I was definatly not disappointed. What's your opinion of Mr. Arnold's efforts?

If somebody has the guts to make a petition to get Arnold on for Bond 25, then I'd be the first to sign. Seriously, he's a f*cking genius when it comes to Bond scores. He said that he made the soundtracks from a fan's POV, so when the JB theme is needed he uses it without hesitation. I think that's why the Brosnan scores are so good; they're pompous, overzealous, but also calculated.

Going back to the original question: CR (2006).

@Russ007 wink I was disappointed that Arnold didn't any Oscar nominations for any one of his soundtracks. Thomas Newman did a good for the two movies he scored (he did the wonderful soundtrack for Passengers), but Arnold deserves one.

@Russ007 spy I forgot to mention that the song You Know My Name (written by Arnold and the late Chris Cornell for Casino Royale), received a Grammy nomination for best song in a movie.

The theme for Tomorrow Never Dies was also nominated for a Grammy best song in a movie.
