Claire è un giovane magistrato di Lione: un giorno davanti a lei, in tribunale, compare la madre di una compagna di classe di sua figlia, "strozzata" dal sovraindebitamento. Decide allora di coinvolgere Stéphane, giudice esperto e disincantato ma sensibile al problema, nella sua battaglia contro le derive del credito al consumo. Tra lei e Stéphane nasce qualcosa: il desiderio di cambiare le cose e un legame profondo, ma soprattutto l'urgenza di vivere questi sentimenti.

La historia se concentra en los institutos de crédito y la publicidad engañosa. Vincent Lindon interpreta a Stéphane, un experimentado abogado que ha perdido la ilusión pero que, junto a la joven e idealista Claire (Marie Gillain), luchará por los derechos de una mujer que ha caído en la trampa de los préstamos fáciles.
