Don't think it was the worst Bond film by any means but Sir Roger had clearly past his sell by date for this one - I can honestly remember a making of special for this on TV when I was a kid which showed him getting interviewed whilst being fitted out with a girdle 😂 You just wouldn't get such open honesty from aging film stars these days...
I think you have to divide Bond scores by decade, since each is representative of a music aesthetic that was fresh at the time. The sixties were still brass and big bands. The seventies were rock and roll. The eighties were pop and synth. The nineties were rap and grunge. The 00-10 were largely alt rock and more rap. As such, I can't compare a 60's Connery score to an 80's Moore score very easily. My personal favorites are:
60's - Goldfinger
70's - Live and Let Die
80's - View to a Kill
90's - Goldeneye
00's - You Know My Name (Casino Royale)
'10+ - Skyfall
Overall, and it's just me, I love Goldfinger the most. It's so classic, it's Connery Bond, and it's just got that vibe that I dig. I'm also a HUGE fan of Disney's The Incredibles and the music in that is such a callback to Bond and other spy movies of the 60's that for me that era's music is inextricably tied to all things spy.
@JarekReanimated According to my official Bond theme song CD, A View To A Kill was written by: J. Barry, A. Taylor, R. Taylor, S. Le Bon, N. Rhodes.
Yeah, I had a feeling he was involved, never really looked into it though. Thanks!
Barry was one of the greatest and I wish modern Bond films (as boring as I find them) would use his style because I think it would make them at least a little more interesting.

One of the best songs for sure.

Agree totally on the song.
And while I do agree that Sir Roger was a little "long in the tooth" to play the part, it is still one of my favorite James Bond films.
After Sean and Roger dropped out, the appeal of the films went downhill for me.

I pretty much agree with your list, for me Roger Moore had the best music by a long shot, it also helped him being Bond for such a long time too. LOL

I agree, a great if not the best Bond Song. It was the only song my band dared to cover despite only performing self written stuff.

@Will Barks Duran Duran (and the late, great John Barry) did a great job on this song!

Amazing song.
And as a side note, while it's by John Barry and not Duran Duran, this movie also has my favorite piece of film score from the movies.

I liked the song but it's not my favorite. This movie isn't as bad as people make it out to be either....

@JarekReanimated Have you ever heard the soundtrack of The Living Daylights? It was the last Bond soundtrack by John Barry and it is awesome!
