I've read that director Ib Melchior had a small ($1.6 Million in today's money) and 9 days to create a "ready for the theater" movie. So, what could you "armchair Spielbergs" have done with that budget and time? I suspect that Roger Corman could have done something more interesting, but he was famed for using his cast as crew to save money.

So you intend to "gamble your way to a fortune"? That has a 50/50 chance of success, at best. If you end up "I went to Las Vegas with a $30,000 Cadillac and came home on a $100,000 bus," the studio will "drum you out" of the director's guild before calling the Police. Can you still create a "theater-ready" movie in the days after your success at the gaming tables? (Hiring Roger Corman to do the job would be your best bet, eh?;)

Huh, $200,000 doesn't go as far these days, if you're going to "play Rock Star on Speed" at just ONE Las Vegas casino-hotel.;)
