The code was transferred from John Carlyle to Max via a CABLE. So, how did Kruger's team collect part of the code when flying around shooting at the guys on the ground who just ambushed Carlyle? Seems like a major flaw in the writing; a very obvious one.

Also, it was encrypted, they wouldn't have known what the data contained.

The same goes for Spider, when he plugged a cable into Max and viewed the code... he also wouldn't have known what it was because it was still encrypted.

However, the movie looks fairly good so far and I'm just over halfway through it but I couldn't get by this without commenting... too bad there isn't a really active place to discuss these things like when IMDB's message board was around. :(

Yup I think that was a bit of a plot leap, especially Kruger's team suddenly knowing what they're after. In the previous scene he was basically unemployed and moping around until he suddenly got his job back. My only explanation would be that it's implied Jodie Foster filled them in on the mission details (maybe she transmitted the instructions when the team picked him up).

And yea, Spider shouldn't have been able to see anything but gibberish if it was encrypted. Maybe if we stretch it, we could say the encrypted code had a "header", sort of like an encrypted zip file might have a header telling what it contains.

Overall I was willing to let those 2 points slide because the story was picking up the pace and probably didn't need to downshift into explaining things.

I think the worst stretch was when Kruger basically got his head blown off with a grenade but technology resurrected him with a flawless face lol. But again... things were getting interesting so I let it slide. I enjoyed this flick.
