It did not have the solid-movie feeling the first had. At times it is just cheap action (with a million dollar budget). Where did they get off making it funny --when Ripley yells at the alien to get away from the kid.
And the characters do not make much sense. Reiser's character of Carter Burke is completely cuckoo after being introduced as sort of sane. Ripley (maybe with freeze-dried brain from so much suspended animation) is off her rocker liking Bishop after saving little Newt. No matter how much Rip warmed up to New, Bish will never be anymore than circuit wiring. No reason for Rip to ever trust "him" or droids in general. She was actually smarter not to trust. But like I said freeze-dried brain.

Alien and Aliens are two completely different types of films. One is a suspense horror flick and the second is a Seven Samurai/Dirty Dozen ain't we just a motley crew of half baked characters with our own specific quirks who are doomed to all die flick. The testosterone in me says Aliens is the better film but the intellectual in me says Alien is. They both have their perks I guess. So if you are the brainless, gun-toting, spray bullets and ask questions later sort of chap, I think you would gravitate towards Aliens . I do like them both though, really.

Nahh!! Aliens was vapid, uneven and wrongly silly. Even a little corny. Alien OTOH though not frightening was a solidly dramatic work of science fiction.
