A parrot belonging to an escaped killer washes up in Mickey's basement. Mickey hears it talking and thinks the parrot is the killer he's just heard about on the radio. While Mickey is skulking about the basement, Pluto runs into the parrot, first hidden under the fish, and then inside a leftover turkey.

Mickey écoute chez lui les informations à la radio en compagnie de son chien Pluto. Il entend qu'un meurtrier s'est évadé et court dans la ville. L'évadé possède un perroquet parlant qui se lave au même moment dans la fontaine du jardin de Mickey. Pensant entendre le propriétaire du perroquet et non l'animal, Mickey prend peur.

Un pappagallo di nome Polly cade da un camion e arriva nel seminterrato di Topolino. Al piano superiore Topolino e Pluto sentono un bollettino radiofonico che avvisa il pubblico dell'evasione di un pericoloso killer. Topolino sente il pappagallo nel seminterrato ed è convinto che l'assassino abbia fatto irruzione nella casa. Mentre Topolino tende un agguato al killer nel seminterrato, Polly va al piano di sopra e si imbatte in Pluto. Il volatile inizialmente resta nascosto, prima in un mobile sotto un pesce rosso e poi all'interno di un tacchino, ma poi si rivela a Pluto. La confusione che ne segue fa accorrere Topolino, che spara nella propria cucina convinto che in essa si trovi il killer. Subito dopo si accorge dell'errore, ma Polly è incolume e i tre fanno amicizia.
