Discuss Sabrina

I've always been a big fan of Humphrey Bogart. I loved him in The Maltese Falcon, The African Queen, and many other films. But I must say that he is utterly at his best in this sweet romantic tale, playing a hardworking, lovesick sap. In my opinion, one of the greatest performances of his career, if not the greatest.

I would've loved to have seen Audrey Hepburn in one of Humphrey Bogart's detective films.

AUDREY WAS A QUEEN.

Haha, yes, wouldn't that have been something!

She looks innocent, but could she also be a 'femme fatale'?

Hmm. She was immensely talented, so I think so.

I personally didnt warm to Bogie in this and was not convinced by him as the ageing love interest for a young lady. So much so I wasn't actually sure if he was remotely smitten with Sabrina (which obviously was part of the point of the film, but it felt like Bogie was being asked to pull off something almost impossible).

I think he was much better as the sort of reluctant love interest in The African Queen and thought Audrey Hepburn had the strongest performance in this one by quite a distance.

6/10 for this film for me as I felt the decision about the final emotions of the two brothers towards Sabrina was almost entirely arbitrary with little in the way of setup.

I probably agree with you. However, I honestly can't recall ever seeing a weak performance turned in by Bogie in a film.
