Discuss American Christmas

This (thinly disguised) version of "A Christmas Carol" has an Adult feel to it. Or is it just "a very strange Christmas story"? (The production company name, seen at the very end of the film credits.)

I don't understand. What is adult about it? Nowadays adult and kid are almost the same thing. Or is it some kind of raunchy comedy? Never heard of it anyways.

To use a TV term, what starts out as a (sort of) comedy shows "it's teeth" at several points, turning into a "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"-level dramedy as the misbehaving children confront their "ghosts." As with the Dickens classic, choices and consequences appear, and one is even dangerous. It's not a movie for everyone, but an offbeat Christmas will get you out of the "how many times are we gonna put up with 'Tiny Tim' and 'Scrooge' in December?" rut. (It's no kid-friendly "A Christmas Story" by a long shot.)
