Doesn't that answer the ending on who won since Jason is still around and Freddy doesn't seem to be around anymore

Jason X should be viewed as a elseworld story. However Jason chopped off Freddy's head, thats a clear winner to me.

I was reading about that Pinhead ending where he chains them up. I wonder if they had gone with that how it changes the ending. Would pinhead have been the true victor?

No one really wins between these two. They are eternal. That's what the Freddy "wink" was for at the end.

I think Ronny Yu went with the BEST ending possible. Its up to interpretation...
It very much LOOKS like Jason is the victor, walking out of the Lake in slo-mo carrying Freddy's Head (I saw this on opening night at the cinema & the theater erupted), but then you realize Freddy winks, almost a "haha, sike, he's back in MY world b***h!"..or IS he?! No clear winner...and that's fine by me.

Agreed. Fans of either guy could be satisfied by that ending. I liked it back in the day.
