Discuss 運命の元カレ

I had rock bottom expectations on this one, so it was a great surprise to find myself LOLing many times. If you haven't heard of this flick, the premise is as paper thin as any romcom... Ally reads some dumb article that says women who have slept with 20 or more men will never find a husband, and realizing she's slept with 19, she freaks out and decides to look up all her 19 hookups hoping one of them will be the one so she doesn't go over 20. The fun happens when she, social-media illiterate, hires her man-slüt neighbor to find all her exes.

We can guess where it's going but that's not the point. What this becomes is a sort of updated raunchy Harry Met Sally, posing the question whether men & women can be friends or if sex always ruins everything. Like Billy Crystal & Meg Ryan 40 years ago (geez that long??), here our 2 leads have fantastic chemistry, the kinds of friends who can say anything to each other honestly, and that's how we get a great look at relationships from both sides.

I call it raunchy, but it's nothing like the overgrown hornyteen 30-something sex comedies of recent years. That's entirely due to Anna Faris selling the role of "Ally" as a sweet, silly chick who just happens to hook up with a lot of men. Honestly her portrayal reminded me a lot of Gidget from the 60s, the way she has a knack of getting into ridiculous situations. Only these situations involve sex. Andy Samberg's cameo as the puppet guy had me in stitches.

On the romcom scale I'd give this a solid 8/10.
