Discusión Spider-Man: No Way Home

It seems a good idea to cure people who turned into supervillains and send them back to their respective worlds. But by doing so, it could seriously change the past events which followed the point those villains were pulled by Dr. Strange, and not for the best (Doc Brown could explain that better).

"Back to the Future 2" and "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" show what disasters may happen when attempting to fix past/future events, even with good intentions. Let alone it may happen when attempting to change the timeline of another universe.

For instance: in Spiderman/Maguire's world, Norman's turning into the Green Goblin and subsequent death drove Harry to seek revenge against Peter by turning into the Green Goblin, but he changed his mind (after learning the truth), and sacrificed himself to save Peter from Venom/Topher Grace. If Harry was not present at that point, using the Green Goblin's gadgets, Peter would be dead.

So... was it a good idea or not?

mechajutaro, I did not ask was it a good idea of the scriptwriters to include those characters in the film, in order to make it more fascinating to the viewers.

My question is whether it was, from Peter/Tom Holland's POV, a good idea to attempt changing past events, without taking into consideration the possible applications.

He likes to make up his own threads in other people's threads, it's not personal.

Not quite. Do we really believe that this movie would have drawn the crowds that it did, had it not been for the gimmick of having all the Spidermans aside from Nick Hammond together again on screen, plus Wilem Dafoe and Dr Octopus? I say this as a viewer who actually enjoyed NWH

But it's not the topic of this thread.

I found it surprising yet interesting that Marvel stepped into such contention political territory by producing such a clear allegory for legally enforced covid vaccinations.

Yes, Spider-Man wanted to cure these evil characters and prevent bad things happening to them via physiological alterations but should they be free to make that choice themselves rather than having it enforced upon them by the morally righteous?

Very interesting stuff... But as to any timeline changes, that's not the way the MCU works with it's multiverse. i.e. Norman Osborne going back "cured" would create an alternate branched universe. Harry's story would continue to exist on the original branch.

So Norman would still be Green Goblin and dead in the original branch?
