I mean the movie lasts about an hour and fifty minutes, but it is so dull and uninteresting it seems like it takes hours to finally end. People watching it in the movie theaters must have had the same feeling of helplessness and the same mindset as the characters: there must be a way out of this dark movie theater....it is a mathematical certainty! Also how is it even possible that each reiteration of that dark haired kid was more annoying than the previous one? That is something I would have thought a mathematical impossibility! Then again just about the whole cast is so unlikable and dull you can't really help but to wonder how they even managed to gather such an ensemble of people together. Another dud for M. Shamayalan. Then again I'm not entirely sure he ever managed to make anything good after 'the Sixth sense' although 'Unbreakable' was decent.

Aw, come on - the movie was not that bad!

Different strokes for different folks and all that, but I thought it was terrible even on the M. Shamayalan scale of bad movies.

Granted, not the best film from M.N.Shamayalan, but still, It was entertaining and intriguing. A fresh narrative, at least by Hollywood standards. I agree that a lot of things could have been handled better, but who are we to complain. I would give it 3 out of 5 stars still.

You're not meant to like the characters on a personal level, but you are meant to recognise their broken humanity.

Broken, because they're all consumed by material or ephemeral trivialities, aside from their ailments. Human, because over the accelerated course of the movie, they are confronted with connecting with one another and facing their demons head on. Some find peace, some don't.

Also, it's a lot of fun to see what would happen next, how each character would deal with the next phase and how they would interact with one another. Who would make it, if any.

The meta-narrative, the big picture of the movie, was just the icing on the cake. A bonus as you leave the theatre. Something to talk about over dinner. Was fun. Timely given current zeitgeist.

Agree with this, thought it was enjoyable and intriguing.

The Visit and Split were good...even Signs and the Village had its moments.

It wasn't like this was The Happening!
