I enjoyed this movie a lot & think it's worth recommending.

I'm wondering if there was an explanation of how Thom & Lorraine escaped the vault?

@47:00, the vault functions are explained.

They're seen trapped in the vault. Water is rushing in. Simon is beneath them, stacking the nitrogen bottles on the scale.

• Thom & Lorraine are bobbing at the top of the vault, banging on what looks like a skylight window, or it could be a lighting fixture, or it could be a window to the water tank (there's supposed to be a water tank above the vault)
• Simon succeeds in adding enough weight to stop the water inlets. (more on that later)
• Cut away. We see water begin pouring out of the ... large subterranean drain tubes. The bridge adjacent to those tubes raises. The guards arrive to the vault & see the gold cases, and the hole in the vault floor closing.
• I think it's safe to say the water drains out of that hole in the floor, and out of the drain tubes.
• So Thom/Lorraine travelled out of those tubes? And then... grappling hooked in the split second onto the railing/platform we see @1:41? Then climbed up the elevator shaft? Oh, I guess they could wait for 95% of the water to evacuate, then crawl out of the now-empty tube. Still requires a grappling hook to the platform.

The timing of that is real farfetched, considering we see the guards/head of security in this corridor during this time, and the elevator is in use. I guess we're supposed to believe that like 10 seconds before the head of security looks knowingly at the wet drain tube, Thom/Lorraine had been there, and then to the elevator.

On another note- Is it correct to call b.s. on the idea of weighting the scale to save their lives? At 47:00 Thom says "when the vault floods, the whole thing sinks down into the [empty] chamber [below the vault]".

So... you weigh it down. The water stops. The vault sinks down into the chamber. You're dead.

I didn't remember hearing that there was an early abortion method or something like that. If there was, then the whole Simon intervention seems useless- why not take 5 minutes of SCUBA air, and just wait for the water to fill the vault (the vault was like 99% full here anyway). The scale gets tripped from the water weight, and you get the same outcome. Or you can scuba out following James. I guess the original plan couldn't have an alarm get triggered (the thieves only have control of the cameras, not the alarm).
