1988, I was four years old. Can distinctly remember my mix of terror and excitement during the library ghost scene, and running to the other room to hystrrically tell my father all about it as I buzzed with the endorphins of a small child. This movie formed the pillars of my love for cinema, along with Gremlins, Labyrinth and Back to the Future.

1988, a second run. I was 13 and I was crazy about The Real Ghostbusters cartoon. But the movie was another thing entirely. I rewatched it on VHS several times. Then I grew up, forgot about it for a while. Watched it again as an adult and yup, it was still great. In 2014 I saw it again on the big screen for the 30th.

I remember it being broadcast on Christmas Day, 1986 perhaps. My sister recorded it - we must have watched that tape at least 30 times

At a local cinema when it was first released. I was back then 16 y.o and I watched the movie with a large company of school mates and friends. The cinema was full of young people all about the same age and I can't describe you the fun we had and our reactions during the film. The theme song was one of the biggest hits of that season and part of all play lists in all parties including the high school's ones. Top hit, lot of dancing and lot of fun.

At a local cinema when it was first released with school mates also, it was a friends birthday so his dad paid for us all to go to the cinema, we got in late and missed the first ten minutes or so, so we stayed after the end credits and watched it again for free!

In the mid 1990s when I was just out of toddler age. It must've been playing on TV 'cause I know we didn't have a tape of it. All I can remember is thinking it was funny and the silliness of the big puff marshmallow man lumbering through the city!

Saw it in '89. I was 14 at the time, and enjoyed it a lot, and still do ;)

I think that we;ll always enjoy whatever was part of our youth. It is the nostalgia factor that makes all these things appealing and not necessarily their quality.

I agree! Nostalgia isn't enough to enjoy a movie or show as an adult, it only can add some special touch to the viewing. Some movies I liked back then seem so cheesy now.

I came from a strict religious home so my sister and I rarely got to go to the movies. When Ghostbusters premiered I was 10 years old and I wanted so badly to see it but it was forbidden. The whole school talked about it and since I had read about it and picked up bits and pieces from what my friends talked about, I lied and told everyone I'd seen it too. We all agreed that the big fluffy guy was the coolest. I had no fucking idea what that meant. I watched it two years later on VHS with my mom after she'd chilled a bit. Or rather a lot. By then she let us watch American Ninja and Terminator too. It's nice how enlightenment works.

Back in '84 as a double feature with Gremlins...double dose of awesome. This was also the first and only movie I rented on beta when my uncle had it at the time.
