This is exciting. Why not have the FF face Annihilus in the Negative Zone? Really go all-out with the sci-fi aspects of it, which is what I liked so much about the books....

Did you know that in an earlier phase of the Marvel Studios plan, they intended to do a feature film focusing on Fury? I suppose that his part in Captain Marvel was adequate enough, because they canned that one (I'm pretty sure).

Idris Elba is now too old looking to play a "much younger" version of anyone.

I thought that the first film with Ioan Gruffudd and Alba did well at the box office. It was the second one, which you referenced about having Alba in her underwear, that (I think) didn't perform so greatly.

Maybe I need to be schooled as to what makes a film "bankable"..... but if you check out the first Tim Story film's page on this site, you'll see that its budget's listed as $100 million. Its revenue's listed as $333,535,934. Now that's over 3 times the amount of the film's budget. I dunno - this thread has taken on a very, very negative overtone, but I just felt like stating that. Maybe I need to be schooled.
IMO, if anything, the franchise has suffered from overkill -- too many films, in too little time.

Actually, the character Sue Storm gets nude in both movies... I had to jog my memories of them. In the first one, she's trying to get away from some nosy, aggressive people, and she undresses, turning invisible, and in the 2nd one, she gets her brother Johnny's ability to "flame on," accidentally burns all of her clothing off, and flies around the Baxter Building, naked as a jaybird.
You don't see anything, really; I believe Alba's vehemently against doing nude scenes as an actress.

A film generally just have to make at least a 2x ROI to not be considered a flop. The first two FF films both did that, the first one doing more so. People tend to forget with other Marvel films high box office numbers, they make only 3-4x ROI themselves. So by that standard that the first two FF films were moderate to good successes:
As for the third FF film:
Yeah...that one flopped...eek. 😫
As for what they should do for the next film, don't cast both John Krasinski and Emily Blunt like the fan boys have been clamoring for. It's a huge mistake to cast a RL couple for something you want to be a franchise, since if anything goes wrong with their relationship the franchise would be pretty screwed.

Ha-ha. I see there is nothing quoted before my response of "Amusing" up there. Looking back on the thread, I have no memory of the context for my statement and cannot defend it....
