Discuss The Matrix

I have never gotten into this movie. I have fallen asleep multiple times during it and why it was ever considered great was always something of a mystery. I guess if there is something ironically amusing, the directors of this both transitioned into ladies.

I don't know about the most overrated film "in history." I felt let down by the two sequels in a big way -- only the first film had that feeling of discovery about it. Surely there are other films in cinema that are about as overrated. I think I said it here before that Casablanca kind of bored me at times.

Everyone has an opinion, yada yada yada....

yada, yada, yada? This is a message board. The whole idea is to post opinions about TV and movies.

Oh, my bad... I didn't feel like saying the whole expression: "Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one."

Not everyone. Sometimes people are born without one. No Asshole

Okay. I guess the corollary would be that there are people out there who have no opinions.

If you're going for the most overrated film in history, I would probably say it's Casablanca. I don't think I ever fell asleep on The Matrix.

You're female, aren't you?

I think it had a cult following that extended outside of just sci-fi fans... the movie itself is excellent, but the sequels diluted it somewhat, and probably contributed to the sense of hype more than anything else...

The original wasn't very hyped, at least that's what I remember... It's only with the sequels that there was a groundswell of media...

On it's own, the Matrix is excellent... It contributed concepts of political and cultural awakening to a mass audience as well as being highly entertaining... But it's a genre movie, so probably not to everyone's sensibilities... I suppose the special effects don't have the cool factor and novelty that they did when it was released, but the themes and concepts hold up well, imo... and it's fun...

No, that would be Citizen Kane!

Dude when Orson Welles and Joseph Cotton got into that slo mo kung fu fight! That was awesome. Rosebud is the red pill. Xanadu is the blue.

Besides 10,000,000 film nerds can't be wrong or can they?
