I am not ashamed to say I've loved the Purge movies. First one was okay for its budget, 2 and 3 actually build on the potential of the premise, 4 is kind of dumb but I still enjoy it for its unintentional(?) comedy. But this one is dogshiit. The whole point of what makes this concept interesting is that it's 1 day a year for 12 hours. They've completely thrown that out and now it's really no different than a zombie or Mad Max movie.

And the post-Trump Purges have strayed too far away from the fun of the premise and into racial politics. If neo-Nazis were this organized in real life they'd rule the goddamn country, although I must say I laughed petty hard at the "bad hombres" reference just for how blatant it is (similar to the "pussy grabbing" scene in part 4).

If you're going to inject political messages into your film it should be subtle, not have characters/narrator just blurt it out in the title sequence. At this rate I'm guessing the next Purge will be about a bunch of homophobic red hat wearing white supremacists hunting down gay and trans people and killing the last bit of fun left in this premise.

I was a fan of the series until they made it political. I barely made it through The First Purge. I turned off The Forever Purge after 30 minutes. I won't attempt to watch any more sequels.

I've seen all of them in theaters...except this one! I was tempted, but the political overtones were pretty heavy in the trailer..I already see all the racist bulls**** on the news! Don't need it in my movies!

How was it racist?

I am assuming he means how it portrayed all the white men as hating Mexicans. Even Josh Lucas's character who we are later meant to root for starts off blatantly hating Mexicans.
