Discuss The Father

IMDb and Wikipedia state the year as "2020", but TMDB lists this as "2021". Why?

Not sure why. They have gone AGAINST their own 'bible'! And the release date on the main page is for when it was released in the UK! Which makes no sense. The official release date should be January 27, 2020, at the Sundance film festival.

From the Movie Bible:

Primary Release Date

The primary release date used on TMDb is automatically calculated by looking for the first release that meets the following criteria in this order:

  1. A "limited" or "theatrical" release
  2. A "premiere" release
  3. Any other release (digital, physical or TV)

The first limited release in theathres was in the USA - in New York City and Los Angeles - on 26 February 2021.

The premiere release was at the Sundance Film Festival on 27 January 2020.

In this case, according to the movie bible "limited" or "theatrical" release is used as primary release date.

It doesn't make sense to do it this way. Why not do it the way the majority of other sites do it?
