I didn't like the way they shifted the lighting around inside the cave when showing the cave paintings. There were shadows on the artwork which slowly moved across them. The brightness of the lighting changed continually most of the time. Were they trying to replicate the light from a fire? I wanted them to shine a light on the artwork so I could clearly see it.
As for the artwork itself, I was quite impressed. 35,000 years ago those people were pretty good artists. They did a great job painting horses, mountain lions, bison, mammoths, now extinct cave bears, and even rhinoceros. This cave is located in France. It was interesting to realize that all those animals lived in France back then. Scientists said the cave was not inhabited, that apparently the people then just used to for artwork and possibly for ceremonies.
I thought this movie went on far too long. It was an hour and a half. They filled it in with fluff. The narrator sounded dopey. Toward the end he showed an artificially created tropical climate dome which had alligators, some of them albinos. He wondered if the albino alligators might go to Chauvet cave, and if they did, what would they think of it? He then wondered if man is like the albino alligator. He said all this in a solemn, dramatic voice. I had to turn it off.
