..who was a little disappointed that Hudson didn’t get fat for this role? She was heavier than before I guess, but I was looking for Dreamgirls era. That’s when she was sexiest also in my opinion.

I thought she would alter her body, in much the way Bale did in The Machinist or how fat the actor who played Biggie Smalls in Notorious became. That is true commitment to your craft to me.

I guess it is different for female actresses. Charlize Theron put on weight for Monster though. Not that she didn’t look like Aretha, but I suppose for this time period, Aretha wasn’t as big of a woman in the 60’s-80’s.

A knowledgeable, close relative of mine told me that Aretha used to fluctuate in weight. As far as I could tell, this was true.

I agree that she was much sexier and prettier before she lost the weight. Before, her face had real character, and you instantly wished you were her friend. Now she just looks like any pretty girl. She's beautiful and looks like a model, sure. But there's no longer anything in her looks to set her apart.
