No disrespect to those on who's suffering this story is based but this was overlong and had some unusual stylistic choices that made life in a POW camp look like a barrel of laughs. I'd advise the Colditz Story over this as a more measured and serious portrayal of escape attempts, although I give both 6/10.

I'm somewhat baffled why this is so celebrated despite some top motorbike action. There was nothing gritty about this at all to me. It was a 'bit of a giggle' from the start and when people were portrayed as struggling mentally or physically it was done so superficially.
