Conrad Lang, a handyman in a rich family - he has been raised like a brother with Thomas, who has the same age -, accidentally puts fire to the big holiday house he keeps. He returns to the town he grew up in, to the family home, where Philippe, Thomas's son, and Simone are getting married. Conrad's frequent memory loss and behavioural problems rapidly reveal a neurological disease (Alzheimer's is suggested by doctor Cohen when he examens Elvira) which leads Elvira, Thomas's stepmother, to install Conrad in a guesthouse on the property, with the help of a nurse. When Conrad looses more and more his landmarks in present and past, memories of his youth come back to surface. They intrigue Simone, since these memories do not entirely fit together with the official family history...

Depuis des années, Conrad Lang vit aux crochets de la riche famille Senn. D’abord camarade d’enfance de Thomas, puis gardien de leur maison de vacances à Biarritz, ils l’utilisent comme bon leur semble et lui s’en satisfait. Mais lorsque son état de santé se dégrade, lorsqu’il se met à raconter à Simone, jeune épouse de l’héritier Senn, des souvenirs d’enfance qui ne collent pas tout à fait à l’histoire officielle de la famille, Elvira, la matriarche, se montre étrangement menacée. Comme si ce vieux fou inoffensif portait en lui les moyens de la détruire. C’est alors qu’entre Conrad et Simone va naître une amitié étrange, amenant la jeune femme à faire face, pour lui, à une Elvira bien plus dangereuse qu’il n’y paraît.

Als sich dessen Erinnerungsfetzen ganz langsam zu einem großen Ganzen zusammenfügen, schweben die beiden bereits in tödlicher Gefahr...

Quando Conrad perde sempre più i suoi punti di forza nel presente e nel passato, i ricordi della sua giovinezza tornano in superficie. Essi intrigo Simone, dal momento che questi ricordi non sono del tutto in forma insieme alla storia della famiglia ufficiale...
