I know it's just a movie & Hollywood can do whatever it wants(I like to state this in posts so miserable morons who like to feel superior to me don't have to point this out), but I have one thing about getting the alternate reality to work. It was the fact that some of the girls traveled to the Far East to learn martial arts & the Chinese & Japanese languages. Due to the fact that it would take about 2 years(4 years round trip) to sail to the Far East, plus about 2 more years to learn martial arts, customs, and language (depending how well someone learns), I figure it would take 6 years away from home. Throw in a few people who have trouble learning this & it becomes a real waste of time. Wouldn't have been easier to bring a few Shao-lin monks and other Far East martial arts teachers to England?

You can't teach language and customs from teachers that are brought to England. You have to be in the real environment to learn something truly deeply. Not sure it is a 2 year trip, though. The sea voyage from UK to India took 3-4 months. Maybe 1 more month to China and then to Japan from there. So your 2 year trip is way overestimated.
