I really want to rant about this but I doubt a lot of people have seen this or will remember it after 10 minutes, but they finally make a time travel movie with young black leads with a fairly decent budget and it's utter crap. And it had such potential with a decent plot, it's just so badly written with no clearly established rules and one of the ugliest time travel devices I've ever seen.

I'd watch that movie. I think there was a Seinfeld episode like that.

Haha what did you expect from Netflix? They are just trying to capitalize on the SJW movement. All about that money.

And that is why I hate the movie so much. I mean, literally, you nailed why it sucks. Back to the Future is one of my Top 10 favorites and as a kid I thought it would be cool to do a black version of BTTF. 90% of black children are raised in single parent households (ie single mother households) so what if a black kid goes back in time to try and make sure his/her parents stay together?

Also cut out all the F bombs so families can watch it and make the time travel device something a little more interesting than a backpack with a hose connected to an iPhone.

SO MARTY WOULD GO BACK IN TIME TO STOP HIS DAD FROM KICKING HIS MOM DOWN THOSE STAIRS AND GOING OU FOR A PACK OF SMOKES HE NEVER RETURNS WITH?

Back To The Future was one of my favorites as well, and there are a few other time travel movies that I liked. But there are also tons of time travel movies that I did not like. So I think that time travel may just be one of those things that's difficult to write well.

As I wrote in another thread, I think that with the exception of her brother's death, the main character is only dreaming throughout the entire movie. I've dreamed about people that I've lost before and I think it's the subconscious mind's way of getting closure. This seems like it could be the case here since she keeps getting things wrong every time she time travels. It's common to keep failing in different ways in dreams that way, especially if it's something that can't be achieved in a dream.

If the writers wanted a time travel movie with a happy ending they could have written it that way. But I don't think that's what they were trying to do.

That's an interesting interpretation but I disliked the movie so much I don't really care if it was real or a dream at this point. I wanted a time travel movie, the premise promises time travel, so I want to take it on face value that it was time travel, in which case it's horrible. If it were all a dream that kind of gives it a bit more depth, but then again I didn't care about the story as it unfolded so it's still a fail.

Plus "it was all a dream" endings are one of the absolute worst cliches I can think of, so just nothing but bad decisions with this idea that could have been great. I know Spike Lee only produced it but he does not know how to do genre films. I saw his Ganja and Hess remake and it was utter crap.

Just watched it and OMG the main girl was soooo annoying
