about the U.S.S. Indianapolis....one of the greatest in cinema history! I could listen to it every day. Robert Shaw was a fine actor. We lost him way too early. Any other great movie monologues y'all are fond of?

The trouble is it wasn't historically accurate.

That is probably my favorite as well, Shaw's delivery was so real and just sucks you right in, it's impossible not to get embedded in your mind. He definitely helped make Jaws such an undeniable classic.
Another personal favorite of mine is Stallone's breakdown at the end of First Blood, that was some heavy-hitting sh*t. Funny thing about it though, I never really got it until I bought the dvd with subtitles, lol. Even before my hearing loss it was tough to make out everything he said.

Couldn't agree more!
How about Jonathan Banks in Half Measures episode of Breaking Bad?
Great monologues like this are hard to come by! There's many "good" ones, but this is very special and exceptionally memorable! I can think of lots of good ones, but very few that were this great!
Another great one is his other one towards the earlier part of the movie when he scratches the board at the meeting.."You all know me, know how i earn a living...10,000 dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing. Mr mayor, chief, ladies and gentlemen.."

How can we forget the long monologue rant of Samuel L Jackson, in Pulp Fiction. That was something else!!!!

Oh, yes! Quint totally owns that room! I love the way he gets up and walks out with his helper leading a dog on a leash trailing behind!

That one is the best one for me.
Also, even though it's done for comic effect, his monologue when Hooper is going to go down in the shark cage, right before he starts singing "Spanish Ladies."

Great speech. Shaw was actually drunk when he first recited it. He redid it sober but I think it captured the character of Quint better when he was drunk. Very chilling. I would say a close second would be Samuel Jackson's monologue in Deep Blue Sea right before he was attacked and killed by the mako.
