Discuter de Invisible Man

And oddly enough I'm not talking about the suit of invisibility. What I'm talking about is this young handsome multimillionaire stud who has a suit of invisibility and millions of dollars at his disposal to burn, and apparently some kind of a company to run on the side as well, yet this hunk does not have anything better to do with his time other than to stalk an almost 40 year old woman 24/7. Now that is true science fiction! How does that suit work anyways? Did he borrow some technology from Kevin Costner to transform urine into drinking water? Or did he take regular coffee breaks between what seemed like uninterrupted stalking and take a dump in the nearby woods like a bear? I should also mention that the thought of losing his woman turns this casanova into a mass murderer and facilitator of fisticuffs surprisingly quick.

Lol I think that was my main gripe too. Elisabeth Moss is a great actress and she was undeniably good in this, but...i had trouble believing he'd be infatuated with her.

I know it was explained he was a huge narcissist and she was the only woman to ever reject him, but I just couldn't get past how Elisabeth Moss looked...frumpy.

Also, as you said, the guy was a murderer yet he intentionally injured the security guards in the mental institute. Why would he be so caring to them, they were witnesses that he existed. Had he killed them all, it would likely be that everyone would assume she did it.

You forgot to mention she's ugly too.

Presumably they'd been to The Bahamas together at least a few times, where he saw her like this

For a rich handsome guy that picture might as well be of Rosie O'Donnell.

I hate to be mean, but I agree with the other guys, a rich handsome inventor wouldn't settle for Elisabeth Moss even if she were in the best shape of her life. Sure the movie was pretty good and as mentioned Moss isn't a bad actress, she's just... not pretty. And I'm always the guy pointing out how fake it is that Seth Rogen is always paired up with these hot women far above his level, this is no different.

They should've got Seth Rogen or someone of his ilk to play the inventor - that would've made more sense for him to be paired with Elisabeth Moss!

I do feel we're being a bit mean on her though because I thought her acting was really good...

Wait why is it mean on Moss but not mean on Rogen? We're living in the age of gender equality, if we can criticize Rogen's looks we can criticize Moss's looks. Although you do make a good point about recasting the inventor with someone older would have made more sense.

Elisabeth Moss is hot as hell. No wonder he was obsessed with her.

You must have her confused with a different Elisabeth, or an Elizabeth... she isn't hot or attractive. She's not even good looking, she's freaking UGLY. There are over 800 photos of her on imdb to prove that she's freaking ugly.

I find it incredibly annoying that people are calling Cecilia by the letter C instead of her name...

I've heard punk teens do that on occasion, but only in another stupid movie, and it was stupid then too... but she's a 40+ year old woman and it is just even worse.

If you think abusive control by a man over a woman is a function of the woman's age (or, by implication, her beauty), you have more learning to do.

That's fair, but come on. Elisabeth Moss is a good actress, I can't deny that, but she has never exactly been a looker. This was a well written movie with great performances all around, I just wish they had cast an uglier dude as the invisible man, or at least an older guy. This would be like making Basic Instinct with Ryan Gosling as Michael Douglas and Jane Lynch as Sharon Stone.

Thanks, respect.

I agree but, as I suggested, it's not about looks, an assertion that borders on blaming a rape on "what the woman was wearing".

Again, this focus on outward appearance is missing the point. But, I'll hasten to add, narcissists and sociopaths tend to be slick, THEY focus on their appearance to mask the emptiness inside them. A terrific study of this was American Psycho.

In other words, a rich, handsome, successful dude is actually a very fair character type for this kind of character.

No I get your point, I'm not saying it's not possible, I'm saying this would be a rare exception. A guy who looks like this guy (assuming he made his money after he got with her), could do better. Tall handsome men who can do better, do better. It comes off as female fantasy, like Twilight or 50 Shades of Grey where this handsome rich guy settles for a plain looking woman. It's as ridiculous as the nerdy geek hooking up with the hottest girl in school or Knocked Up where Katherine Heigl has Seth Rogen's baby when we all know she'd abort it, but at least those were comedies.

Yeah that's fair, I don't have a huge problem with it, but it's still very jarring. I choose to believe she was thinner and prettier when they first met and then she gained weight and aged more because of his abuse. That fits.

🙄

Seth Rogen as the inventor of the most technologically advanced suit on Earth? Sure why not. They don't need to change the actor get real.

Seth Rogen is a bit of a shitheel anyway so I wouldn't cast him. Maybe someone like Hamish Linklater or David Dastmalchian or Tony Curran would have worked.

@Damienracer said:

The actor who played the inventor was good enough they should have recast the actress instead.

I thought she did a good job. Sure she's not the prettiest woman and she's a Scientologist, but she is a good actress. There are plenty of ugly dudes who are good actors, I just didn't buy that that type of guy would want her. It would be like Leo DiCaprio obsessing over Rebel Wilson, it's just not believable.
