Discuss Candyman

I stopped halfway through to check the credits... oh, now the racism makes sense... Jordan Peele is one of the writers... every production he's contributed to is filled to the brim with racism --- bashing white people. He just can't stop with hate. He's a lowlife, pathetic POS. He has no place in show business. He's a terrible writer and a terrible comedian, even if you ignore all the racist parts. I'm finishing this awful movie... my first line said I stopped.. I meant, I paused it to check the credits.
I wasn't aware that they made this sequel, I just happened to see it in a RedBox machine and picked it up today. What a huge mistake that was. This is total trash.

Jordan Peele is half white (his mother - who is the parent who raised him - is white), you know.

Which says nothing. You can be any color and be a racist, you can live with someone who is a different race and still be a racist. You can be raised by not a racist and still be racist. Judge people by their words and actions, not race.

One character actually informs our hero, verbatim "They(by which he means white people, I suppose)love the art we create, but still hate us."

While I don't disagree with the "wokeness" contained within the film, I actually agree with this line. It's certainly more prevalent in sport. There was also some discussion with the main actress and her gay brother's partner near the beginning about the gentrification of the housing projects which made sense to me.

Overall though I think the film did quite a good job at incorporating Candyman into what the Cabrini-Green project was and what it is now.
