This British WWII film is an oddity. Blending actual footage of the war into its story of a young man who sees a premonition of his own death in the days preceding D-Day, it is a potent, often beautiful picture. Some of the images - the soldier rolling down a hill in slow motion, a body gunned down on the sand, strange machines of war rolling across the beach - are striking, haunting and poignant. Great use of music, too. It is a difficult film to describe but one that I recommend highly. 8/10
