Discuti 海神号历险记

Beautiful Carol Lynley, age 77, passed the other day, on September 3.

She's probably best remembered for her role in this film, though also is well known for her numerous other screen and television appearances.

Bon voyage, Miss Lynley, and RIP rose

Incidentally, this is one of the very first "grownup" movies I saw in a theatre (though I wasn't yet quite a teen at the time). I loved the song "The Morning After", Carol lip-syncing to it, her appealing performance and gorgeousness, and of course the blockbuster all-star excitement of the film itself. It all was win-win.

It's really funny you mention her. About two weeks ago I saw an episode of The Big Valley and she was in it. I didn't know who she was, but like many old TV shows I look up some of the guest stars to see what they have done since and had one of those "aha, I thought I knew her" moments when I saw she was in Poseidon. One thing for sure that movie was a showcase for Shelly Winters talent and a nice way for Ernest Borgnine to break away from the typecast that McHale's Navy had created.

I use to have the 45 of The Morning After by Maureen McGovern, she sang three songs that won Oscars, besides Poseidon, she sang the Oscar winning song in The Towering Inferno, and had a minor hit when she recorded the song Ginger Rogers sang in The Gay Divorcee. So movies were very good for her...although I thought I read somewhere she went broke.

Carol Lynley sure was in a lot of t.v. series episodes throughout the years. I remember her popping up frequently in 1970s and 1980s series, in addition to reruns of certain series from the prior couple of decades.

I had forgotten that Maureen McGovern had other songs, beyond "The Morning After", though definitely remember she was big for a while. I always really liked her voice. I used to enjoy singing along to "The Morning After" when it would play on the radio.

I loved Carol Lynley´s performance in ¨The Poseidon Adventure.¨ The whole cast was very good. And the ¨Morning After¨song goes so well with the story. The first time I saw the film in my teens in a movie theater, the song stayed lingering in my heart for days. I have enjoyed watching the film again over the years. That´s what we call a true classic film.
