Discuss River Runs Red

You know you're in for a rough ride when in the opening two minutes you get a comforting father and son moment where the son just casually asks : "Oh hey, daddy. Are black people better than white people"

and without missing a beat the father immediately says:

"Yes."

From there it goes on to a laughably awful story on how the kid who asked the question is now all grown up in the next scene and ready to join the police force while his cheerful multiethnic family gleefully cheers him on. In the next scene said kid is now happily driving around in his father's car when two white cops just decide to stop his car and leisurely blow him away when the kid is going for his driver's license. Now, as the story goes on we learn that said cops have been shooting other kids as well. Obviously these kids were of ethnic background because that's just what white cops do - they shoot random kids of ethnic background, and that's the lesson this movie wants to drive into the viewers head.

I did get a few good laughs from all the unintentional comedy and silliness like the scene in the beginning where the kid gives his father a drawing. Now the kid looks like he is something like 10-12 years old or even in his early teens, but the drawing looks like it was done by a four or five year old and the father looks at the drawing in amazement and says: "You drew this? Not bad kid" I should also mention the chinese mother who can barely speak english even though she works as a nurse, and even after the timeline teleports about 15 years forward, she still hasn't learned how to speak english any better. I guess she is a slow learner.
