Nic Cage is turning into Eric Roberts, hahaha. What absolute garbage.

I respect Eric Roberts a bit more, ever since he played 'General Bukkake' in a B horror movie. That made me laugh more than anything Cage has done.

LOL...I clicked on this to post a comment about Eric Roberts.

I actually really like Eric Roberts but yeah, look at his filmography. It seems he takes every role offered to him.

I'm a fan of Lovecraft but his particular brand of supernatural horror rarely translates well into film. Plus it it sounds like it's going to be played with comedy so what is that going to be like?

No it doesn't. But the most successful Lovecraft film, The Reanimator, was a comedy horror. So we have seen it work before.

Having Nick Cage in a film is getting to be the mark of questionable quality.

You can say that again. I watched a terrible movie the other day, only to find out afterward that Nicolas Cage was originally slated to star, but dropped out and had to be replaced - Gary Oldman filled in. The movie fit Cage's current trend perfectly.

It is depressing seeing Cage consistently appearing in such bargain bin crap over and over again. It's because he is in a lot of debt so he has to keep working.

But one of his more recent films, Mandy, was superb. It was like David Lynch crossed with a heavy metal album cover. Not typical of the films he tends to do these days at all. I recommend you give it a try and get some faith back in the man.

I'm not into horror films but it's true, out of maybe a half dozen sh!tty films he acts in, maybe one is actually pretty good. I thought Running with the Devil was very good.

I haven't heard of that one but I'll have a look. I hope he does make a proper comeback one day. Maybe a tv show is what he needs.

True and Stewart Gordon did bring HPL back to life in a way.

There was also a German version of TCOOS a few years back which I haven't seen

Sounds interesting. There is a film of Call of Cthulhu which is good. It's under an hour long and made like an old silent film.
