What an intense, excellent movie, and with truly exceptional performances by the two main children. Marcia Mae Jones' performance, as Rosalie, is absolutely phenomenal. Every time I watch this terrific film, she impresses me every bit as much as does Bonita Granville (who of course, as Mary, is superb rotten horribleness incarnate!). In a way, Marcia Mae impresses me most, as there's such complexity of range illustrated in her characterization, from sweet, loveable, adorable, to victimized tormented and utterly absolutely terrified to the deepest core. She's amazing in the role!
