Discuss The French Dispatch

Seeing the trailer for this made me think maybe we've reached Peak Anderson. The guy's style has become so honed and particular that he's like a parody of himself. I'll reserve judgement on the film of course, but I worry that maybe we're past the 'distinctive artist's voice' stage and more into 'churning out more of the same'.

Seeing the trailer reminded me of the SNL parody Wes Anderson trailer. Almost the same. He's found a style and keeps repeating it and his fans keep eating it up.

The midnight coterie of sinister Intruders

I despise Wes Anderson. I rewatched that stupid train movie he made with the 3 brothers who didn't look anything alike and was blown away by how dumb it is. It's a completely nonsensical story where nothing that happens is connected to anything else that happens. All his films seem to revolve around his signature style while story seems secondary and everyone is so enamored of his whimsical aesthetic, puke.
