More on that in a minute. But as to the movie M3GAN (2022) itself:
If you were expecting a horrifying movie along the lines of the many made about demonically-possessed dolls, only instead the berserker doll is an android, then you will probably be disappointed.
There is hokey, "fun" music placed in many scenes that otherwise might be scary, and the movie outright seems to poke fun at itself many times. The doll is also unrealistically strong-- almost invincible --such that it detracts from the believability of the story. A doll designed to be an empathetic playmate simply wouldn't be designed that way, and likely in such a compact machine it wouldn't even be possible even if one wanted to.
So a 5 out of 10 for the movie.
Which is a shame, since, beyond the missed potential it had to be a terrific Horror film, it didn't really attempt in any serious way to address the ethics of constructing an Artificial-Intelligence android with the potential to completely replace genuine human contact.
(This issue was raised in the movie, but not with any depth).
Looping back to the title of this thread:
I do think that, as a society, ethical considerations are increasingly being thrown out the window when it comes to Artificial Intelligence, and other advanced technologies such as human cloning and artificial wombs for the growth of children-- research is proceeding along on all these fronts, and increasingly, the mantra seems to be, If Something Can Be, It Should Be. When ethical considerations are raised, the response seems to be, "Those concerns might be valid, but that's Progress-- it is going to happen, so what can be done? Might as well go along with it."
Even though we are the inventors, somehow, we think that we cannot stop, and again, If Something Can Be, It Should Be.
In closing, M3GAN was more of a popcorn "Saturday afternoon" entertainment than anything else; on that front, it might succeed, but it is nothing more. A wasted opportunity, in my opinion.

It is a SF horror popcorn movie with a PG-13 rating and achieved its goal of trending in the social media with the viral 'M3GAN memes'.
As you've mentioned, M3GAN is not a cursed or possessed doll, but a doll with AI: an android, or in this case a gynoid. Nothing new either. There are movies and television shows about androids and this time it's more horror than science fiction.
What can you learn from it? Here is an explanation:
For the general audience this might be a little too deep. They just want to see a fun horror movie and do the memes.

Check out this nifty short from a few years back. Make sure you don't look at the comments first because of spoilers. https://youtu.be/BSYAPKgcgj0

Thank you for sharing the video, znexyish.
I seriously think there was more thought put into that little short-- with some great acting --than there was in the feature-length M3GAN movie.
